Company History |
 |
Both Vector Marketing Corporation and Cutco Cutlery Corporation are wholly owned subsidiaries of Alcas Corporation. Created as a joint venture between ALCOA and Case Cutlery, the Alcas factory in Olean, N.Y. was completed in 1949 and the first set of CUTCO Cutlery was shipped to New Kensington, Pa. that same year. ALCOA purchased Case's share of the company in 1972.
In 1982 several Alcas managers purchased the company from ALCOA in a management buy-out. The company remains privately held today, and is proud to be one of the largest employers in Cattaraugus County, NY.
Vector Marketing began as an independent distributor of CUTCO Cutlery in 1981. Soon, it outpaced other distributorships across the country, driving sales higher with exceptional training and leadership. Within several years, Vector Marketing eclipsed the smaller sales organizations and was named CUTCO's sole distributor in 1985. The company's successful programs were replicated throughout the organization, leading to sustained annual growth of over 20% for most of the 1980s and early 1990s.
Vector Marketing expanded into Canada in 1990 and today the company operates over 200 offices in North America. |
